Melwin Lycke Holm was a great success.
When he won the Finnkampen high jump for the very first time.
But afterwards he goes on a hard attack – against himself.
It has been a mixed season for the big talent Melvin Lycke Holm. The 18-year-old has shown great potential but at the same time has been disappointed in himself for not reaching higher heights and has been chasing 2.20 meters for a long time now.
Lycke Holm’s words
This weekend’s Finnkampen was another great success for Lycke Holm, who won the men’s high jump competition at 2.15 m. But despite the victory, he was still not satisfied and gave himself a good beating afterwards.
– Jumping is chaos and disastrous. It’s unbelievable that I took 2.15 today, says Melwin in an interview with SportExpressen.
– It almost feels like a mockery that I once again fail to do 2.20.

In addition to the high jump, Lycke Holm has also shown forefoot in the long jump as well. Where his personal best is 7.51 meters and after the victory in Finnkampen, he was asked if it might be interesting to change athletics.

Sawing himself
But he wasn’t particularly keen on that.
– When it has stood still for so long, it is clear that it is attractive. But I’m still a better high jumper. The conditions were perfect when I jumped 7.1. If I want to get better at long jump, I need to get faster. I think I have the wrong genes for it, he says to the evening newspaper in a clear fit to the father and the coach Stefan Holm.
– I have damn piss genes. Rot.

Earlier this summer, Melwin Lycke Holm took home the gold in the junior EC and after that the teenager has mostly been set on taking it easy and recovering.
– After JEM, I just wanted to sit at home and eat chips, he admits in the interview.

Father Holm was also present during the Finnkampen at Stockholm’s stadium to guide and support his son during the competition.
