The visit to the two countries falls right in 70th anniversary of the foundation of “Six-legged dog” and is part of Italy’s path to freeing itself from dependence on Russian gas after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. According to forecasts, Italy is preparing to receive one billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Mozambique in the winter of 2023-2024 and approximately 4 billion cubic meters in the winter of 2024-2025. From Congo, however, Italy will receive up to one billion cubic meters of waterliquefied natural gas for the winter of 2023-2024, and up to 4.5 billion for 2025-2026.
