(Telestock) – Giorgia Meloni received Mario Draghi this afternoon at Palazzo ChigiA comparison that lasted more than an hour regarding the Report on the future of competitiveness European, commissioned by the European Commission of Ursula von der Leyen and presented by Draghi in recent days.
The report – a note from Palazzo Chigi underlines – contains “several important insightsincluding the need for greater impetus to‘innovationthe demographic questionthe supply of critical raw materials and the control of the chains of the value and, more generally, the need for Europe to provide tools to implement its ambitious strategies – from the strengthening of the defense industry to double transitions – without excluding anything a priori, including the possibility of a new common debt“.
“Shared priorities that also reflect the work carried out by the Government in Italy and in the European institutions”, reiterated Meloni, who greeted Draghi with the promise to “keep in touch to continue to explore these matters in depth”.
The meeting with the former Prime Minister had been announced a few days agoafter the presentation of the Report in Brussels. And just today, the Prime Minister had cited the work done by her predecessor, speaking at theConfindustria assembly. “The ambitious Europe’s environmental goals must be accompanied by adequate investments and resourcesfrom a coherent plan to achieve them, otherwise it is inevitable that the energy and environmental transition will be to the detriment of competitiveness and growth”, Meloni declared this morning, citing the Draghi report and alluding to the need to mobilize investments also in the private sector.
