Mel Brooks is awarded an honorary Oscar

The 96-year-old screenwriter and director won his first Oscar in 1967 for his script for the comedy “Springtime for Hitler”, which he also directed. He has also been nominated for several of the other “It’s spring for” films and has also received an Emmy, Grammy and Tony for his productions.

Angela Bassett will also receive an honorary mention. Her film career stretches back 40 years and she received her first Oscar nomination in 1993 for the role of Tina Turner in “What’s love got to do with it?”. Last year she was also nominated, then for her role as Queen Ramonda in “Black panther: Wakanda forever”.

A total of four honorary Oscars are awarded this time. The third recipient is the editor Carol Littleton, who has edited films for almost 50 years and was nominated for best editing in the classic “ET the extra-terrestrial” in 1982. She has also held several important board positions in the film industry in Hollywood.

The fourth statuette goes to Michelle Satter, who founded the Sundance Institute’s artist program in 1981. She receives the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Awards. It is awarded to a person in film and science whose humanitarian efforts have enriched the film industry.

The awards will be presented at the 14th annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles on November 18.
