The marathoner is accused of missing three anti-doping tests within a year, which is against the rules.
French marathoner Mehdi Frere has been banned from competition for two years by the International Association of Athletics Federations’ disciplinary tribunal after violating anti-doping rules. The matter was told by Frère’s lawyer Laurent Fellous.
The reason for the ban is the absence of three anti-doping tests within a year. So Frère has not been there when the anti-doping tests should have been done.
The French Athletics Federation announced on Sunday that 27-year-old Frère had made it to the Olympic team. Now Frère’s dream of representing at the Olympics seems impossible.
At the beginning of June, Frère was banned for an indefinite period, and he had not been able to participate in the half-marathon of the European Championships, for which he had also been initially selected.
Frère set his personal best in the marathon (2:05.43) last year. He finished 20th at the World Cross Country Championships this year.
