Buckingham Palace has announced that the results and findings of the investigation into the allegations of ill-treatment against Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will remain confidential.

The Palace announced in March last year that it had launched an investigation into allegations that Markle had mistreated Royal staff.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, withdrew from their royal duties in March 2020 and have now moved to the United States.

The allegations of ill-treatment against Markle were made public after the couple appeared on US television personality Oprah Winfrey’s show.

Markle claimed in that interview that the Crown institution was constantly producing fake news about them.

“I don’t know how, after all this time, they can still expect us to be quiet if the Company (colloquially means the Palace) plays an active role in constantly generating fake news about us,” the Duchess said.

Allegations of Meghan Markle mistreating Palace staff were published after the interview with Oprah Winfrey was heard.

Allegations of maltreatment, bullying or harassment of staff were denied by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

It was announced that the investigation initiated by the palace concluded after about 15 months, but its findings would remain confidential.

A source from the Palace told the BBC that the investigation resulted from a change in procedures.

The same source also noted that all staff and members of the Crown will be notified of these changes.

However, it will not be disclosed what changes will occur or who contributed to the investigation.

The palace source also noted that the individuals involved in the investigation contributed on the basis of confidentiality.

The investigation initiated by Buckingham involved a legal team from outside the House.

A leaked email published in the British Times claimed that Meghan Markle had suspended two of her assistants while the couple were living at Kensington Palace, and a third staff member had shaken her confidence.

The couple’s spokesperson has yet to comment on this development.

However, Markle, when these allegations were made last year, argued that it was the “final attack on his character”.

The couple also emphasized that it was very unfair for these allegations to come out while Markle was “abused and bullied”.
