Fresh from the June streaming program from Amazon Prime * comes the first film adaptation of an artificial character that has countless fans in Germany: The Kangaroo Chronicles accompany the doings of a communist marsupial in Berlin. And at the latest when said kangaroo kicks annoying mutts in a high arc through the area in the park and then evaluates their trajectory, it should be clear that no prisoners are taken when it comes to humor.
The Kangaroo Chronicles is a real phenomenon
The kangaroo created by Marc-Uwe Kling started with small funny stories as well as with radio clips and kicked his
Victory march through Germany then with four books *, which became popular mainly as audio books *. There are now merchandise products, comics, several kangaroo card games * and two films. The first of these is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

The Kangaroo Chronicles
What’s the matter? The doorbell of the (fictitious) Berlin cabaret artist Marc-Uwe (Dimitrij Schaad) rings: A kangaroo (spoken by Marc-Uwe Kling) stands in front of it and asks if it can borrow ingredients for pancakes. It is the beginning of a wonderfully absurd friendship. Because soon the animal will also move in as a roommate and begin to take action against gentrification, Nazis and other disruptive factors with a big mouth. Other pithy figures such as the barmaid Herta or the Turkish brothers Friedrich-Wilhelm and Otto-Von crossed his path.
The film The Kangaroo Chronicles comes as a mixture of well-known interludes (dog-far-kicking, “Wait a minute”, schnapps obsession) and new jokes. Whether with you too philosophical-political anarcho-humor the “witty certificate” you can now find out at Amazon.
Last year, The Kangaroo Conspiracy, the film sequel to the Kangaroo Chronicles, was released in German cinemas, in which Marc-Uwe Kling took on conspiracy theorists as a director. The sequel is available to stream on Amazon, but (for now) only to rent or buy*.
