MEF, state sector surplus down: August balance at 650 million

(Finance) – The surplus of the state sector falls in August. According to what was communicated by the MEF, the balance of the state sector closed, provisionally, with a surplus of just 650 million, worsening of approximately 8,400 million compared to the balance of August 2021, which closed with a surplus of 9,050 million.

Net of payment of 8,954 million by the EUcollected in August 2021 as an anticipation of the 13% of non-repayable contributions envisaged by the Recovery Fund, the balance would show an improvement of approximately 500 million.

The needs of the first eight months of the current year is equal to approximately 33,700 million, an improvement of approximately 36,400 million compared to that recorded in the corresponding period of last year (70,169 million).

In comparison with the corresponding month of 2021 – explains the Treasury – this result is due not only to the different scheduling of transfers of resources of the Recovery Fundto the positive trend of tax collectionsin particular, to self-liquidating payments including those relating to ISA subjects which last year had shifted to September. The positive dynamic of the payments continues social security contributions, VAT and other taxes indirect.

On the payments side, there are: higher withdrawals from the Social Security Institutions for the disbursement ofSingle and Universal Check; higher expenditure of the Central and Territorial Administrations to which the loan to Ukraine of 200 million provided for by Decree-Law 50 of 2022 and the transfer to CSEA of 1,200 million for containment of expensive bills. It should also be noted the disbursement of the residual tranche of the resources provided for by article 4 of Decree-Law 80 of 2022, for the purchase of natural gas for storage purposes and subsequent sale.

There interest expenditure on government bonds it is slightly down by approximately 150 million compared to the value of the same month of the previous year.
