(Finance) – The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced that in August 2023 the balance of the state sector closed, provisionally, with a surplus of 2,100 million euros. The month of August 2022 ended with a surplus of 652 million.
In comparison with the corresponding month of 2022, the figure of takes into account the reduction of paymentsincluding minor transfers to CSEA and GSE.
Furthermore, the MEF reports a reduction in tax collections, in particular due to the reduction ofVAT on imports and due to the effects of the different scheduling of the self-assessment.
The expense related to interest on government bonds is in line with the value of the same month of the previous year.
