MEF BTP Green new issue maturing in October 2031

(Finance) – The Ministry of Economy and Finance announces that it has entrusted a Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, BNP Paribas, BofA Securities Europe SA, Crédit Agricole Corp. Inv. Bank and Monte dei Paschi di Siena Capital Services Banca per le Imprese SpA the mandate for the syndicated placement of a new BTP Green maturing on 30 October 2031.

THE BTP Greenas required by the budget law for 2020 (Law No. 160 of 27 December 2019), are Italian government bonds dedicated to financing environmentally sustainable government expenditure in the following categories: renewable sources for the production of electricity and heat, energy efficiency, transport, pollution prevention and control and circular energy
protection of the environment and biological diversity, research.

The transaction will be completed in the near future, depending on market conditions. All other government bond specialists will be invited to co-lead the deal.

The net proceeds of the issue will be used in accordance with the criteria set out in the “Reference framework for the issuance of green government bonds” published in February 2021 which describes the 6 environmental objectives, as outlined by the European Taxonomy of Sustainable Activities (Regulation 2020/852), and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are intended to be achieved through specific expenditure present in the state budget.
