The G100, an NGO bringing together influential women, present in around a hundred countries through its Migration and Refugee Resettlement branch, organized a meeting in Cameroon on the situation of displaced and vulnerable people in Central Africa. The idea is to find solutions for these vulnerable people.

Between the abuses of Boko Haram and socio-political demands, Central African countries such as Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR) are plunged into security crises, notes the G100. Crises causing the displacement of millions of people, explains Caroline Sack Kendem, global president of the G100:
“ Nothing but Cameroon, 1,350,000 internally displaced people is enormous. Take Chad, there are also displaced people. The CAR, which said it was welcoming 50,000 refugees from Chad and Sudan, even though it is a fragile country.. »
These displaced people, settled far from their place of origin, are often vulnerable and need help to survive. Empowerment, particularly of displaced women who have become heads of families by force of circumstances, becomes urgent in this fight. The G100 can count on the High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
“ How can we approach this question of empowerment? ? By direct answers. You will see here, there are refugee stands, refugee women, entrepreneurs who, thanks to some support from the UNHCR and certain partners, have now been able to develop a commercial activity which allows them to make a living », Says a UNHCR resident representative.
Guest of honor, Doctor Harbeen Arora Rai, founder of the G100, recalled that this situation is not specific to Central Africa. In May 2022, more than 100 million people, including 27.1 million refugees, were displaced around the world for various security reasons, underlines the UNHCR.
