After the death of Naël, a young 17-year-old motorist killed by a police officer in Nanterre, in the Hauts-de-Seine, emotion is strong on social networks.

[Mis à jour le 28 juin 2023 à 11h54] Around #justicepourNaël, the emotion is strong. Since the revelation of the death of Naël, a 17-year-old young man shot dead by a police officer after refusing to comply on Tuesday in Nanterre, thousands of comments have been pouring in on social networks. Among a crowd of anonymous people, several public figures like Kylian Mbappé or Omar Sy, but also from the world of music, are moved. In this case, an amateur video posted on Twitter seems to contradict the initial version of the police and question self-defense, adding indignation to the general emotion.

In the caption of a photo of the teenager, the rapper Médine, known for his commitments and his conflicts with the French far right, shares the famous #justicepourNaël, on Twitter and Instagram. Another rap artist, Sadek, shares the video of young Naël being shot at close range by the policeman. And to write in the caption: “A hit and run is a bullet in the head. Raping a kid is a reprieve. Welcome to France.” In another post published on Twitter, Sadek announces that he will donate all the profits from his next concert, this Friday, to Naël’s family, “not much”, according to him, up to 9,000 euros.” He sums up: “Everyone must act on their own scale, the ‘Tweets of indignation’ are 2 minutes.”

In another message, he calls to action with another French rapper, SCH. “I see mind-blowing tweets, it makes you wonder if there’s still a bit of humanity left in some people. You can find all the excuses on earth to justify the act, it won’t bring this poor 17-year-old kid back. years to his parents. All my support to his loved ones and all my support to our neighborhoods, “he wrote.

Mehdi Maïzi, the best known of French rap journalists, also wanted to comment on this case on Twitter: “All the people here who find extenuating circumstances in the police officers guilty of the death of Naël: stop following me, you are not not welcome here; stop listening to rap, you are not welcome here; incidentally, close it”, accompanied by a “REP (Rest in peace editor’s note.) Nael.”

In a long message posted on Twitter, another rapper, Rohff, also expressed his support for the “parents of the young deceased driver.” He writes: “A lack of a license or a refusal to comply should not allow a police officer out of danger to commit murder on the public highway. It would have been Pierre Palmade or the son of Nadine [Morano, dont le fils doit être jugé en septembre après un accident de la voiture sous l’empire de la cocaïne ndlr.] driving, stoned on coke and whatever else, I doubt they would have been executed like that.”
