Sami Rekik and Ali Jammali is the duo that makes up the group Medina, whose songs have several hundred million streams on Spotify. The smash hits “Miss Decibel” and “Där palmerna bor” are known by the vast majority at home in the cottages, and the duo has also participated in Melodifestivalen several times.
Medina has competed in Melodifestivalen twice
In 2022 Medina competed with the song “In i dimman”, and in 2024 they made a comeback with “Que sera”. The entry “Que sera” made it directly to the final, and became the year’s only Swedish-language entry in the final. Once in the final it was Marcus and Martinus who took home the win, and Medina landed in second place.

Eurovision 2024 was held in Malmö, and during Eurovision week Medina was to perform. But Ali Jammali and Sami Rekik decided to cancel their concert in the Eurovision Village, due to Israel’s participation in the contest.

In the summer of 2024, we will see Medina in “Allsång på Skansen” in SVT. In the same program appears among others Jill & The Johnsons, Tommy Nilsson and Linn Koch-Emmery. It becomes Pernilla Wahlgren’s second year as presenter of Allsången, and she has been praised for her efforts.
In connection with a press meeting with this year’s Allsång artists, so met News24 the duo Medina, and they then talked about the time after Mello and revealed what they really think of Pernilla Wahlgren…

You came second in the Melodifestivalen, and were perhaps a little disappointed by the win. Have you been able to digest it now?
– Yes absolutely. Still a little bitter… No, I’m kidding! We are very happy and I don’t feel that we were snubbed either, says Ali Jammali.
– It was still a competition and there was a first place. But we’ve got the people’s love, we’re out, we’re touring and we’re getting all the love. It might be a diplomatic answer, but it feels like we won anyway, explains Sami Rekik.
– That’s why we don’t feel snubbed, we got so much from it. We got number one on the Swedish charts and were streamed so much and we have a full tour. So it couldn’t have been better, says Ali Jammali.

What are your summer plans?
– It’s just tour, tour and tour and tour and tour and tour. We have done 30 gigs now after Mello and we have 95 to go. So just pack your bag.

It is Pernilla’s second year as host for “Allsång på Skansen”. How do you think she handled herself?
– The best thing that has happened to Allsången, says Sami Rekik.
– She is so cruel, she is experienced. She has a twinkle in her eye. I think she will do fantastically, says Ali Jammali.
– And she also has very nice legs. Very nice legs, if you can say what you think, interjects Sami Rekik.
