Turkish media reports that Swedish journalist Joakim Medin is accused of contact with PKK and “insult by President Erdogan”.
– I can say so much that it is of course false. One hundred percent false. Medin is a journalist, nothing else, says today’s ETC’s editor -in -chief.
According to Turkish media, Joakim Medin is said to “offended the president” and “to be a member of an armed terrorist organization”. Among other things, he is accused with those who hung up a doll depicting President Erdogan in Stockholm. Those who are investigated include people who, according to Turkish media, “reported on the incident to the media”.
Today’s ETC’s editor -in -chief, Andreas Gustavsson, rejects the charges.
– I see what is now reported in several Turkish media. It is said that the charges against Joakim Medin will be about “insult to the president” and conveying with the PKK. I have not received it confirmed that it is actually the charges directed at him. But I can say so much that it is of course false. One hundred percent false. Medin is a journalist, nothing else.
Joakim Medin has been monitoring Turkey for many years and, among other things, released a book, the “Kurd track”, which deals with the Kurdish issue’s impact on Turkish’s “brake block” in Sweden’s NATO process. He also sat imprisoned in Syria ten years ago, after he as a journalist visited the Kurdish areas of the country.
