“It just sprayed out of the ground here,” says archaeologist Kerkhoven. The archaeologists have not only found a well, but much more. Kerkhoven points to the black earth on which he stands. “This is all the Middle Ages, period 1300 to 1450. Thousands of finds we did. Leather shoes, earthenware jars, wooden lists and much more. The preservation is really fantastic here.”
