On the occasion of May 14 Pharmacy Week and the 185th anniversary of scientific pharmacy, a panel titled “Past, Present and Future of Medicine and Pharmacy” was held at the Samsun Chamber of Pharmacists with the opening of the Museum Pharmacy. The museum, which contains medicines from the 1800s and 1900s donated by pharmacies in Samsun, was opened with the participation of Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı.
“WE WANTED THE NEW GENERATIONS TO SEE HOW PHARMACY WAS DONE IN THE PAST”
Providing information about the museum, Ferhat Karacan, President of the Samsun Chamber of Pharmacists, said, “It is one of the organizations we organize for the May 14 Pharmacy Week. When we talk about the past, present and future of pharmacy, this museum comes into play. Because both pharmacy and other professions change very quickly. In our profession, over time Therefore, we created a museum pharmacy by combining the materials donated to our chamber by our colleagues in order to convey what happened and what happened in the past to future generations. We wanted the new generations to see how pharmacy was done in the past for years to come. We are in the 185th year of scientific pharmacy. Although it sometimes seems to remain in the background, it is actually one of the basic dynamics of health. Medicines were collected in about 7 months, but there is a process that takes 4-5 years for other materials. We wanted, we demanded. “We had the opportunity to make such an opening,” he said.
“PHARMACISTS ARE STILL DRESSING THE WOUNDS IN THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE”
Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı, who attended the opening, said, “I would like to express that I am honored and proud of Turkish pharmacists. While I was on duty in Çanakkale, our pharmacists were the organization that first stood by us during the pandemic, the health army. Afterwards, we experienced the fires in Muğla. The first people to call there were those who supported our citizens in the field. “It was our pharmacists. I would like to thank all the pharmacists in Turkey, in the presence of the Turkish Pharmacists Association, who put the container pharmacy, which will set an example to the world, into operation for the first time in the earthquake region, which we call ‘the disaster of the century’, where 11 provinces were affected, and who are still healing the wounds of our citizens in the earthquake region,” he said. .
“WE HAVE NEARLY 300 COLLEAGUES PROVIDING PHARMACY SERVICES IN CONTAINERS”
President of the Turkish Pharmacists Association, Pharm. Arman Üney said, “Our Samsun Chamber of Pharmacists actively continues its May 14 events. In the past, May 14 was celebrated as a holiday. Then it turned into a day. It became a day when we made press statements explaining our problems. Again, our colleagues continue to celebrate enthusiastically. I was in the earthquake zone. “We still have nearly 300 colleagues there who provide pharmacy services in containers. It is important for us to see the smile on their faces when we wish them happy pharmacy day, even when they are doing this job in 21 square meters and there is no space to move inside,” he said.
The program ended with the panel “Past, Present and Future of Medicine and Pharmacy”. (IHA)
