It was reported that the number of cases in the measles epidemic in the Republic of South Africa increased to 35.
In the statement made by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NICD), it was stated that 14 new measles cases were detected in Limpopo state on 8-9 November, thus increasing the total number of cases to 35.
In the statement, it was stated that measles cases are mostly seen between the ages of 5 and 9, and that no deaths or serious complications due to measles have been recorded in the region so far.
The NICD declared a regional measles epidemic in two counties of Limpopo state in October. In addition, a measles vaccination campaign was launched for children in these regions.
Due to the measles epidemic in different parts of Africa, hundreds of children of different ages have died from different countries, especially Nigeria and Zimbabwe, since the beginning of this year. (AA)
