Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Edil Baysalov held a meeting with representatives of relevant state institutions about the epidemiological situation in the country regarding measles.
At the meeting, it was reported that 7 thousand 46 measles cases were recorded in the country at the end of 2023, and 8 thousand 209 measles cases were seen by April 17 this year.
It was stated that 37.5 percent of the measles cases detected this year were seen in children of anti-vaccination families.
In his speech at the meeting, Baysalov said that the measles vaccine is widely used not only in the former Soviet Union, Europe and America, but also in all countries of the world.
Emphasizing that measures and controls should be increased to reduce measles cases, Baysalov stated that intentional harm to children’s health, especially by parents, is unacceptable.
Baysalov added that the Ministry of Health should make recommendations that will increase the responsibility of parents who refuse to vaccinate their children against infectious diseases, and local governments should work together with citizens. (AA)
