The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend. Not only did we get an insight into phase 5. Three films from phase 6 have already been confirmed. Also included is the next Avengers gatheringwhich is epicly titled Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty.
But who is directing the film? Marvel boss Kevin Feige has already hinted that the Russo brothers, who implemented parts 3 and 4 of the Avengers series, will not be returning. Thanks to the Hollywood Reporter, we now know who is at Avengers 5 directing takes over: Marvel-approved Destin Daniel Cretton.

Cretton made his MCU debut last year with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and even created memorable action scenes. In addition, he is for outstanding dramas known as Short Term 12, Castle of Glass and Just Mercy. Captain Marvel star Brie Larson also stars in two of the films.

Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty will be released in May 2025 in cinemas and is the prelude to a grand Avengers finale. About half a year later, Avengers 6: Secret Wars marks the end of phase 6. It is currently unclear whether Cretton will also direct this film. But it would definitely make sense.
