Since McDonald’s came to Sweden in the 1970s, it has become a big favorite among hamburger-hungry Swedes. But of course, eating at the fast food chain isn’t free – at least not for the average person.
However, there are those who have the great luxury of not having to pay for the food at McDonald’s.
McDonald’s vip card gives you free food
More specifically, have Paul Lederhausen, who started McDonald’s in Sweden when it started, handed out a bunch of VIP cards over the years. These vip cards mean that its owner actually gets to eat for free at the chain’s restaurants.
“Show one of these to the cashier and you get the entire order for free,” Lederhausen writes in his 2016 autobiography “Always Hungry.”

Who has McDonald’s vip card?
But who then has these luxurious vip cards?
“I used to give them as gifts to people opening my restaurants. The Swimmer Gunnar Larsson had one. The slalom skier Ingemar Stenmarkthe artist Magnus Uggla and the tennis player Björn Borg likewise,” writes Paul Lederhausen in the autobiography.
Even King Carl XVI Gustaf have received a vip card. According to Lederhausen, the head of state looked at him “a little suspiciously” when he handed over the card.
