Another ambition of the alderman is to no longer refer to the various courses as ‘intermediate’ or ‘higher’. De Vries only wants to talk about MBO, HBO and WO. Nor should it be taken for granted that young people should progress from secondary to higher education. Vocational training at MBO level should be valued as much by society as training at HBO and WO level. All forms of education are equal. “Utrecht is a city in which everyone is equal and can make use of the same rights and facilities – regardless of education. There is therefore no difference in the assessment of the programs and students of MBO, HBO and WO. All students receive and experience equal appreciation and have access to all facets of student life.”
