An Israeli attack on a school building west of Gaza City, where displaced Palestinians are said to have taken shelter, has killed seven people, according to the Gaza Civil Defense.
Women and children are among the dead, according to civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal.
The Israeli military says it is investigating the incident.
In another attack, against the city hall of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, the city’s mayor was killed, along with nine other people.
Israel says it attacked a “humanitarian area” in the city and accuses the mayor of being part of the armed wing of Hamas.
