UTRECHT – Cities should be given a much more prominent role in the global approach to climate change, says mayor of Utrecht Sharon Dijksma. At the sustainability conference of local authorities in Malmö, Sweden, she made a plea for city administrators to participate more in important climate conferences. She is thinking, for example, of the UN climate summit COP27, which is scheduled for the end of this year in Egypt.
