The work to restore all systems after the weekend’s hacker attack continues. Now the affected company, Tietoevry, says that it may take weeks before everything is back to normal again.
In a press release that went out on Monday evening, the company writes:
“Given the nature of the incident and the number of customer-specific systems that need to be restored, the process of restoring everything can span several days, even weeks.”
Tietoevry further writes that they cooperate with “relevant authorities” after the attack and that the incident has been reported to the police.
The extortion attack, which is said to have been carried out by the hacker group Akira, which according to reports has links to Russia, took place on the night between Friday and Saturday. The attack has affected around 120 Swedish authorities and nearly 60,000 employees – who cannot enter absences, sick leave or holiday wishes in their HR system.
Several companies, including Filmstaden, Rusta, Stadium and Granngården, have had all or parts of their operations affected by the attack.
On Monday evening, Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M), minister responsible for civil defence, tweeted:
“When the operational phase is over, the government intends to bring together all relevant actors, both public and private, to evaluate this event carefully.”
