Production on May Payne Remake 1 and 2, produced by Remedy Entertainment, is currently in “preparation for production.”
It was revealed in April last year that Rockstar Games was working on the remake of Max Payne 1 and 2. According to studio Remedy Entertainment, the project is currently in the next stage of development.
May Payne 1 and 2 Remake Production Completed
“Following the recent success of Alan Wake 2, Remedy sent out a memo to investors detailing several projects it is working on. Max Payne is in the “production ready” stage, while Control 2 is in the “concept validation” stage.
Although I cannot understand the exact meaning of these stages since I am not a developer, I can say that the projects are progressing. The note emphasizes that the studio is working with a “highly organized team” and that they have a “firm view on the style and scope of the game.”
The first Max Payne game, released in 2001, was known for its Matrix style, noir-themed story and bullet-time mechanics. Although only a second game for Remedy Entertainment, this game definitely made them known.
After the release of the second game in 2003, the series went into a period of stasis until Rockstar acquired the rights to the third game in 2012.
It is not yet known when the remasters of the first two games will be released, but it is clear that development is ongoing. We’ve learned that the two Max Payne games will be available “in one package” for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Sam Lake and the Remedy team have great expectations, especially considering the positive feedback Alan Wake 2 has received. “Many reading this article will probably be eagerly awaiting a modern interpretation of this character, which means ‘deep pain.'”
