Max Verstappen drove to an overwhelming victory on the Monaco street circuit. Even the heavy rain didn’t bother the Red Bull star.

Red Bull Max Verstappen drove to an overwhelming victory on Monaco’s legendary street circuit. The victory is the fourth of the season and the second in Monaco for the Dutch driver leading the World Championship.

The F1 race had a calm phase for a long time, until around the 50th lap, water started to drip onto the track. After a while there was so much water that the track became very wet and slippery.

The drivers were having trouble with dry angel tires. For example, Aston Martin, which was in second place Fernando Alonso disappeared in an instant for several seconds.

Many drivers slipped on the track. Some of the drivers came to change the intermediate tires and some the rain tires.

Alonso, on the other hand, tried for a while with the new medium-hard tires, but soon had to get the intermediate tires underneath.

The final race was run in rainy conditions, but no major crashes were seen.

Verstappen won the race by almost 28 seconds. Despite his mishap in the pits, Alonso was second in the race and left the Alpine from the third grid Esteban Ocon third. The prize-winning place is Ocon’s first of the season.

Verstappen approaches legend

For the 26-year-old Verstappen, the victory is already the 39th of his career. He is only two wins away from the Brazilian legend, who is fifth in the all-time record From Ayrton Senna.

Alonso has already reached the top three this season no less than five times, while his previous podium place was from 2014.

Alonso tried to challenge Verstappen at the start, but the star driver kept his lead. The start was generally very unchanged at the tip and bigger bumps were avoided.

Alonso, who has already said goodbye to F1 arenas once, has won the previous time in 2013 at the Spanish GP.

Alfa Romeo Valtteri Bottas rose four places in the race and was 11th. The Red Bull that crashed into the wall in qualifying yesterday Sergio Perez was not able to rise significantly in the race and was only 17th.

Despite the challenging end, the race saw only two dropouts.

Verstappen’s World Championship lead is already 39 points.
