Kiekko-Espoo’s star player Matti Järvinen, 34, got to represent the Espoo league team for a long time.
The puck from Espoo was raised Matti Järvisen Tuesday’s match against Helsinki IFK was not a normal start to the season.
Kiekko-Espoo’s center got to represent the Espoo league team for a long time. More than ten years have passed since the last time, the season of Espoon Blues.
– The feeling was really great. This has been expected. It’s already been ten years since I left here, Järvinen recalls to Urheilu.
– I always wanted to come back, but it was not possible for a long time. It was great to play today. When there is still the home opener on Friday, so really great feelings.
Järvinen moved from Espoo Blues to SaiPa in time and was also involved in the last match in the history of Blues in the spring of 2016 in the ranks of Lappeenranta.
– Now I had the opposite feelings. That’s when I knew bankruptcy was coming. It was a really tough place for many of us blues people, Järvinen admits.
The construction of the new project from Järviste Kiekko-Espoo has been really great.
– This (match) is of course a small interim prize for the club and the entire Espoo hockey community. Have a great week, I hope everyone can enjoy this. Really great feeling.
HIFK won the match with 5–2 goals, when Juhani Jasu hit the last curl into the empty net. Järvi’s weak second set in particular was something to think about.
At the beginning of it, HIFK quickly took a 3–1 lead Vincent Marleau and Luke Martin with goals.
– The first and third sets were really good from us. The second set was miserable. The guy used his goal position well. We slowed down a bit and were on the racks for the second set. We will take the lesson with us from this.
Kiekko-Espoo will get a chance for revenge against HIFK right away on Friday in front of their home crowd.
– We have had two games against HIFK in the fall, and both had a bad second half. We’re going to repair it and patch it up on our own end. We will definitely get a better result with that, says Järvinen.
