Matthias Schweighöfer dances not only at several weddings, but at all weddings. He recently appeared in the mega-hype Oppenheimer, and now he’s bringing Germany’s biggest music scandal to the screen with Girl You Know It’s True. Schweighöfer’s biggest achievement, however, is the shared Netflix universe with Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder. As Schweighöfer exclusively reveals, He is currently working on the spin-off sequel Army of Thieves 2.

Army of Thieves is a spin-off of Army of the Dead: In the parent film, a group of adventurers break into a casino in Las Vegas during a zombie epidemic. The spin-off revolves around the German member of the troupe: Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert, later Ludwig Dieter (Schweighöfer) is supposed to take part in three highly dangerous robberies as a safe professional. Snyder produced the film and Schweighöfer directed it. And he tasted blood.

Because as Schweighöfer explains exclusively in the Moviepilot interview, The first preparations for Army of Thieves 2 have already begun. For action ideas, Schweighöfer turned to experts in Zack Snyder’s environment:
I have with my girlfriend [und Army of Thieves-Darstellerin] Ruby [O. Fee] recently thought about what Army of Thieves 2 could look like. Then we started working on choreography with Zack’s stunt people. What we filmed was completely crazy.
As a prequel, Army of Thieves merges almost seamlessly into the plot of Army of the Dead. It is not known whether Part 2 would take place after the mother film or use a completely new time frame. According to Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves and Rebel Moon take place in a single Netflix universe. When is Army of Thieves 2 coming to Netflix?
It is not yet clear when Army of Thieves might appear. If Schweighöfer can start production on the second Army of the Dead spin-off shortly, a release would be possible Mid-2025 conceivable.
