In Nolan’s film, Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer and Matthias Schweighöfer only meet in a short scene. In it, the main character seeks out the well-known German physicist Werner Heisenberg, who is giving a speech in the lecture hall. Heisenberg is played by Schweighöfer. The scene only lasts a maximum of two minutes and shows both men in a collegial and friendly relationship with each other.

Werner Heisenberg counts as Founder of quantum mechanics one of the most important physicists of the 20th century. He was also part of the so-called uranium project, in which the German National Socialists wanted to build an atomic bomb during World War II. However, the project was put on hold in 1942 because of the excessive expense.

What’s next for Matthias Schweighöfer as an actor?

As a German star, Schweighöfer has now gained greater international recognition thanks to Netflix. For example, Zack Snyder cast him in his zombie action film Army of the Dead. Schweighöfer’s weird safecracker Ludwig Dieter even got his own solo film, which the actor directed himself.
