It was at lunchtime on Friday that the funeral took place. On site were, among others, relatives, colleagues, national police chief Anders Thornberg and former national police chief Dan Eliasson.
The funeral ceremony was preceded by a police procession through Norrköping with several police cars, police motorbikes and police riders. The cortege passed the police station on Stockholmsvägen where Mats Löfving worked for many years. As the motorcade passed by, several policemen stood in salute.
Became 61 years old
Mats Löfving was a professional police officer for almost his entire life and began his career in Norrköping. He worked a large part of his professional life in Östergötland and between 2004 and 2008 he was county police chief in the county. Before his death, he was regional police chief for the Stockholm police region.
He was found dead in his home on February 22, the same day the Police Authority’s special investigation was presented.
Mats Löfving was 61 years old.
