Maths subject for the 2024 patent: what test and what probable subjects?

Maths subject for the 2024 patent what test and what

The mathematics test counting towards the 2024 certificate will take place on the afternoon of Monday July 1st. What should students expect in terms of test and subject?

The middle school certificate tests start on July 1 for all third-year students. Before leaving middle school to move on to high school, they will have to work on French, maths, science, history and geography and a modern foreign language for two consecutive days. For the mathematics test, candidates from mainland France will meet on July 1 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to work on numerous exercises covering the entire maths program.

To help them prepare for it, Linternaure offers, on this page, to discover which subjects may potentially fall this year, as well as the progress of the July 1st test and last year’s subject and its fixed, both for the pro series and for the general series.

The particularity of mathematics subjects is that they often include all the concepts seen during the program. Good or bad for the students, this forces them to revise everything, especially since a single exercise can include several concepts on its own. Thus, fractions, literal calculation, equations and inequalities, arithmetic, probability, proportionality, functions, percentages, transformations, triangles, trigonometry as well as spheres, algorithms and programming can be present in the math subjects this year.

You must therefore be as comfortable with solving simple probabilities, factoring, first-degree equations as with theorems and conversion tables.

Students in the general series and those in the professional series work on different subjects each year, they are both presented in full below and accompanied by their answer key made available by our partner Studyrama.

Everything you need to know about the mathematics certificate

During the French secondary school certificate test on Monday July 1, students from mainland France have two hours to complete all the exercises. The subject consists of a geometry part, an arithmetic part and a computer science part. Convened from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., they will have to work on several exercises, between six and ten, to obtain the maximum points out of the 100 points that the test can yield.

At the brevet, the value of each test is not calculated on the basis of a coefficient, but by counting points. As a reminder, you can obtain a maximum of 800 points during the certificate. You need a minimum of 400 points out of 800 to be accepted. Then, when you collect more points, you can get mentions: you need at least 480 for the fairly good mention, at least 560 for the good mention, and 640 for the very good mention. The mathematics test can yield up to 100 points, it is therefore very important.

The date of publication of the results depends on the academy but they should be available no later than Friday July 12. After the results, a republican patent graduation ceremony is organized at each start of the school year for the winners in their college. The academies, in conjunction with schools and local elected officials – mayors, departmental councilors, etc. – organize, each year, an official presentation of diplomas obtained the previous year.
