Linn Svahn has never won a championship medal.
The expert Mathias Fredriksson believes that this could change during the WC in February, as long as the body holds up.
– So if she just stays healthy and injury-free until the WC, she will definitely win a medal, he says in SVT.
Last Friday, this year’s ski season kicked off with the domestic premiere in Bruksvallarna. Jonna Sundling29, dominated the sprint on the women’s side and Ebba Andersson27, won both 10-kilometer races (classic and freestyle). It was worse for the sprint star Lynn Svahn24, who had to settle for fifth place on Friday.
Fredriksson’s words about Linn Svahn
Linn Svahn was neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with her performance in the sprint. She mostly said that it was nice to be up and running again. One who doesn’t think you should judge her after just one race is the former cross-country skier, now the expert, Mathias Fredriksson.
– Linn was good, you can’t pull too big gears. I don’t think Linn’s skis looked the best, he says in SVT.
Svahn was out for all of 2022 and parts of 2023 due to his serious shoulder injury that required a lot of rehab training as well as surgeries. Once she was back, she was stronger than ever. Last year she won the sprint cup and came second in the overall world cup.
– She saved energy, she was gone for almost two years with a shoulder injury and had time to reflect, she has that with her now that she really likes what she does, says Fredriksson.

That’s how it goes for Linn Svahn in the WC
After the Sweden premiere in Bruksvallarna, the official season premiere awaits in Finnish Ruka. Then it’s time for the World Cup again. The WC in Trondheim in turn starts on February 26. Then it is up to Linn Svahn – who has never actually won a medal at a championship – to get in shape.
Mathias Fredriksson doesn’t think she needs to train on anything special or change the set-up. He is convinced that she will perform at the WC as long as her body lasts. Then comes her first WC medal as well.
– I don’t think she needs to work on anything, because she has never been able to go to a championship fully prepared. So if she just stays healthy and injury-free until the WC, she will definitely win a medal, he says.
Hello Linn Svahn! You are a star on the ski track and definitely have a chance at a medal in Trondheim. Keep working hard and it will eventually come off. There are many of us who believe in you.
