Despite the liberation of Kherson in eastern Ukraine, a mass exodus from the city is underway. The Russian bombardment of the city is so extensive that it is never quiet and never safe. According to the British BBC, rockets and shells are fired between 70 and 80 times a day at the area.
On Christmas Eve, around ten people were killed and 60 were injured. Since then, at least 400 residents have fled the city towards other parts of the country.
Grenades against maternity clinic
Yesterday, shortly after two women gave birth, a maternity clinic in Kherson was shelled. The shelling came in three waves. All the women, children and staff managed to get down to the basement this time:
– It was terrifying, the explosions started so suddenly. My hands are still shaking, says newly delivered Olga Prysidko in Kherson.
