The single was released in 1986 and is now on the music list for the first time since it was released 36 years ago.
In early July, the song gained momentum when the band made a Tik Tok duet of the song along with actor Joseph Quinn, who plays the character Eddie Munson, and this weekend the band thanked the creators of the TV series in a statement on Instagram.
“It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be able to keep up with all the other fantastic artists played in the series,” the band wrote.
The Tik Tok video received over 7.3 million views and 1.7 million likes, and the song also reached number one on the iTunes rock list in connection with it.
The whole thing can be seen as something of a “Stranger things” effect because the series previously made another old song popular by playing it. Then it was Kate Bush’s “Running up that hill” which was first released in 1985 and which after the TV series ended up on the Billboard list’s eighth place.
