Master director swaps Andrew Garfield for Saltburn star for Frankenstein

Fantasy and horror icon Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) is currently preparing the film for Netflix Frankenstein before. But just as the monster from Mary Shelley’s horror novel * has to be put together from body parts, a film also has to find its individual parts first. Now Andrew Garfield, who was originally cast as Frankenstein’s creature, has been replaced.

Monstrous move for Netflix: Guillermo del Toro swaps Andrew Garfield for Jacob Elordi

As Deadline reports, the Hollywood strike has thrown some plans into disarray. Due to the filming postponements, Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man) can no longer perform his leading role due to scheduling difficulties. Accordingly, a new actor had to be found. The rising star stepped into the breach as a new monster Jacob Elordi, who once became big on Netflix through the Kissing Booth trilogy and is now returning to the streamer. It can currently be seen in the cinema in Priscilla and on Amazon in Saltburn. And he’s not the only newly announced actor.

In addition to Jacob Elordi, who joins Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth in Andrew Garfield’s place, other stars have been found for Netflix’s Frankenstein. Guillermo del Toro is not planning a flawless Frankenstein remake for Netflix

Not much is known about Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein adaptation. However, the IMDb says that the Mexican director is not aiming for a 1:1 adaptation of the famous horror novel. Rather, his Frankenstein film is said to take place many years after the creation of the creature. Here another scientist, Dr. Pretorious, follows in the footsteps of the doctor who was believed to be dead in 19th century Eastern Europe in order to learn more from Frankenstein about his experiments to create his artificial human.

Guillermo del Toro most recently created his darkly animated version of Pinocchio and the anthology horror series Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities for Netflix. His Frankenstein will probably be at the earliest 2025 come to Netflix.
