Master director made a sci-fi film for the largest cinema in the world and there is a first goosebumps video

3D, IMAX, Dolby Atmos and iSense: All of these technologies are intended to pull us even deeper into the worlds of blockbusters like Avatar 2: The Way of Water and Oppenheimer. If you want to be sure you’re getting the greatest cinematic experience possible, you’ll have to head to Las Vegas soon. There, the largest cinema in the world is currently getting its finishing touches – the so-called Sphere.

Normal blockbusters cannot (yet) be shown in the cinema, which is why one of today’s most renowned directors made a film tailored precisely to the Sphere. We explain what exactly is behind the largest screen in the world.

Expensive admission: These are the most important facts about the largest cinema in the world

The Sphere is intended to become another attraction in the entertainment city of Las Vegas. It is operated by the Madison Square Garden Entertainment (MSG) organization “Next generation entertainment medium” wants to create, as Deadline reports.

For this claim were evident no expense or effort spared:

  • The screen measures 148,645 square meters, or about four football fields
  • The screen is curved and wraps around the audience
  • The resolution is 18k. It should be about that “highest resolution LED in the world” act
  • 167,000 speakers ensure adequate sound

  • Approximately 17,000 people fit into the Sphere Hall
  • Ticket prices range from $49 to $199
  • Darren Aronofsky created a sci-fi film just for the biggest theater in the world

Director Darren Aronofsky is known for esoteric and visually stunning works like mother! and The Fountain. On behalf of MSG, he made a film that was optimized for the format – and will only be shown in the Sphere. The film is called Postcard from Earth and is described as a mix of sci-fi story and nature documentary.

About the project, Aronofsky says he wants to:

…take people away from the hustle and bustle of the Vegas strip in all its man-made madness and immerse them as fully as possible in the wonder, awe and beauty of the natural world.

The film Postcard from Earth is “a sci-fi journey into our future as our descendants reflect on our shared homeland.”

And when does it start? At the end of September, the band U2 opens the hall with a concert. The first film screening of Postcard from Earth is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2023.
