The horror film M3GAN is the Chucky of a new generation
It is the best toy a child could wish for. She sings, dances, reacts to your current emotional state and always looks perfect. We are talking about the technical marvel Model 3 Generative Android, M3GAN for short, which robotic engineer Gemma (Allison Williams) sets aside for her niece Cady (Violet McGraw). After the death of her parents, she finds a new reference person in the doll, who, however, takes her task as a protector a little too seriously.

Over time, M3GAN develops an eerie mind of its own and begins deadly eliminating threats to the well-being of its small primary user, Cady. A new killer doll is born. She murders viciously like Chucky and always has a snappy comment readylike a diva-like elite student from Gossip Girl.
The horror hit offers little horror, but is extremely entertaining
M3GAN works ostensibly as a smart satire about the relationship between humans and technology. And that’s damn entertaining. The always fantastically dressed killer doll is characterized by an uncompromising penchant for theatricality and style. M3GAN is completely unpredictable and we never know whether in the next scene she suddenly slaughters people while dancing or whether she unexpectedly starts singing.
However, anyone expecting a weird doll slasher in the best Chucky tradition could be disappointed. Their murders are not as brutal as M3GAN’s endless oneliners. There is no explicit violence, just like real horror and fear. Rather, the focus here is on the absurd sci-fi horror fun – and of course the escalating behavior of the techno horror queen M3GAN.
There is a simple reason why the horror film is surprisingly anemic. After the first trailer became a viral TikTok hit, the Universal studio had the film’s violence toned down in favor of a lower rating. In home theater appeared later in addition to the theatrical version, there is also an unrated version of the film. This complements the murder scenes with some gruesome images, blood and a few additional swear words.
