Four men, with connections to the gang milieu in Stockholm, were arrested on Sunday after a major crackdown on a warehouse in Sollentuna, north of Stockholm. The police have seized a significant amount of narcotics and heavy weapons, which Johanna Kolga, prosecutor in the case, believes puts a damper on the criminal networks.
– We have been lucky to get these amounts of seizures, it is big, says Johanna Kolga, who is the prosecutor in the case.
On Thursday, three men took delivery of a truck that the police suspect delivered an illegal cargo to a warehouse in Sollentuna, just north of Stockholm. The police, who have conducted intensive surveillance on the men and the warehouse they rent in the business park for some time, carried out the crackdown in connection with the suspicious delivery from the truck.
During the house search, the police were able to seize over 100 kilograms of hashish, 45 kilograms of cocaine, several automatic weapons, ammunition and hand grenades.
According to prosecutor Johanna Kolga, the crackdown is both large and important because seizures of this magnitude strangle the financing and organization of the criminal networks.
– We have been lucky to get these amounts of seizure, it is big. It knocks the gang criminals off their feet, at least temporarily. It will be a hack in their organization and it will take time for the networks to build this up again, says Johanna Kolga who is the prosecutor in the case to TV4 Nyheterna.
Four men arrested – linked to criminal network
The four men were detained on Sunday in custody proceedings held in the Stockholm district court. The three men who received the truck at the warehouse in Sollentuna are all aged 25-30 and the man who is supposed to have been the driver is aged 55. They are all now, on probable cause, suspected of particularly serious weapons offences, particularly serious drug offences, and offenses against the Explosive and Inflammable Goods Act, particularly serious offences.
Prosecutor Johanna Kolga makes the assessment that the activities in Sollentuna are connected to gang crime, but at the moment cannot say which criminal network or networks it is about.
– With the large seizure and the type of seizure that was made, it is with all certainty grossly organized and that it is then connected to gang crime, says Johanna Kolga, prosecutor.
