In the book “Out of Kabul: The Swedish evacuation from Afghanistan” by Robert Karjel, those who came to Sweden in 2021 after Kabul fell into the hands of the Taliban are interviewed. Robert Karjel started working on the book shortly after the evacuation in August 2021.
– A historical event risked fading before it had even been depicted. As soon as the evacuation was over, I started making contacts, to describe the whole process.
Studying to become a doctor
One of the hundred or so people interviewed in the book is Masiha Ahangar. In Afghanistan, she worked with the Skateistan project, where girls learned to skateboard and tried other sports.
Today she lives in Stockholm and studies to become a doctor, but she often thinks about the situation and the people in Afghanistan.
– I want to do something for my homeland and for the women there.
