Anthony Mackie has already impressively proven that he is a tough action star in the Captain America series and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series. The actor will even be seen as the eponymous hero in next year’s Captain America 4: Brave New World, replacing Chris Evans in the lead role.
Apparently that’s not enough for Mackie to protect himself from his children as a cool father stand there. As the actor explained in an interview with Total Film as part of the Twisted Metal season 2 press tour, he would like to face John Wick star Keanu Reeves for exactly this reason.
Anthony Mackie wants to be in John Wick 5 – to fight Keanu Reeves
Accordingly, the Marvel star was convinced that he would cut a good figure in a fight with Keanu Reeves in a new John Wick film, as he had already competed against professional wrestlers in his current hit series Twisted Metal:
I’m trying to get Keanu Reeves to sign me for John Wick 5 or [John Wick 6] to be considered. I think this will make me a cool dad if I a five-minute fight scene with Keanu Reeves would have. I will put up a tough fight! [Profi-Wrestler] Samoa Joe gave me in [Twisted Metal] punched in the face and I didn’t fall over!

In fact, there are a few loose connections between Mackie and the John Wick series. John Wick creator Derek Kolstad also co-wrote The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, while directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch worked in the second unit on Captain America: Civil War. Whether that’s enough to qualify for John Wick: Chapter 5 remains to be seen for now.
What’s next for the John Wick series?
John Wick 5 is currently said to be in the early development phase. First, however, the spin-off Ballerina awaits us in the cinemas due to extensive reshoots of the action scenes was recently postponed for a year.
The film with No Time to Die star Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves has a new US theatrical release on June 7, 2025 scheduled. However, it is not yet clear when the film will be released in this country.
