What is Robert Downey Jr. actually doing in his post-Marvel career? In addition to the new Christopher Nolan film, he is also set to star in a series from master director Park Chan-wook. The highly anticipated project goes by the name of The Sympathizer and received a first trailer a few hours ago.
The Sympathizer is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen den Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
and the winner is. The story tells of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy seeking exile in the United States of America after the Vietnam War.
The Sympathizer First Trailer: Robert Downey Jr. plays four roles in Park Chan-wook’s new series
While Hoa Xuande stars, Downey Jr. takes over four antagonistic supporting roles. We get to see all four of them in the first trailer – and Downey Jr. is unrecognizable from any of them. The make-up and mask department clearly had fun transforming the actor.

The Sympathizer was conceived as a miniseries. Park Chan-wook developed the screenplays with Don McKellar. He also sits in the director’s chair for the first three episodes. For the rest of the season, series expert Marc Munden and City of God director Fernando Meirelles could be won.
When does The Sympathizer with Robert Downey Jr. start?
An exact launch date for The sympathizer has not yet been set. Based on the trailer, the series will be released in the USA sometime in 2024 at the broadcaster HBO and the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max).
