The reason for Evangeline Lilly’s declaration that she would not accept any new acting jobs for the foreseeable future was an old video from 2006 in which she was asked (apparently during the Lost filming) where she sees herself in the future. The actress confirmed her statements there almost 20 years later with her temporary withdrawal from the Hollywood limelight: She sees herself as “Retired actress” and author with a family and a fulfilling life through humanitarian work:

Evangeline Lilly’s last cinematic appearance was in 2023 in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. What the announced retirement means for her Marvel character Hope Van Dyne is not yet known. The star is currently still in the cast of the drama Happy Life, whose title sounds like a dignified farewell. There she plays a mother who embarks on a journey of self-discovery after her husband’s affair.
