On X he revealed back in 2023 that he would only return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, if he could die. As Variety reports from a conversation, the death of his character Hank Pym was already a condition for his return in Quantumania, but Marvel apparently vetoed it. Douglas’ character survived the film. Maybe his idea was too bizarre for the producers. The actor explains:

[Hanks Tod] was actually my condition for returning [Quantumania]. I was like, “I want a serious one [Tod], with lots of special effects. There must be some fantastic way how I can shrink to the size of an ant and explode or so. But that was true for the last film. [Beim nächsten] I probably just won’t be there.

Douglas likes some fans seem disappointed, that Marvel clearly rejected his request. Whether he changes his mind remains to be seen. It is not yet clear when Hank Pym could return in the planned MCU films.
