Warning, spoilers follow: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has not only started the 5th phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also sets the course for future events of the Multiverse Saga with its villain Kang (Jonathan Majors). However, the ending of the MCU film was not positively received by all Marvel fans.

In the finale of Ant-Man 3, the actually overpowering super villain Kang is defeated by Ant-Man and Wasp. They then return home from the quantum plane through a portal easily reopened by Cassie. This happy ending would never have happened. The The ending was completely reworked before the start.

Looking at previously published leaks about the plot of Ant-Man 3, you can see what has changed. The film should have ended much more somberly. The conqueror survives and is not consumed by its multiversal energy core. At the last second, he manages to escape through the closing portal. Scott and Hope are trapped in the quantum plane, but will not saved like in the theatrical version.

Also in this version, Cassie, Hank (Michael Douglas) and Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) make it back to San Francisco. Instead of a birthday party with disgusting cake, the film should end with Hank promising that together they will find a way to find and free Hope and Scott. This is followed by a final scene in which Cassie discovered something strange on a computer. We don’t find out what that is.

One can only speculate as to why the finale was changed. Perhaps Marvel noticed that the original ending Ant-Man and the Wasp too similar been? Scott would then be trapped in the quantum plane by the end of a movie.

More logically, however, seems that Marvel the end in favor of future Plans for the overall storyline of the Multiverse saga and the upcoming Avengers movies The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Perhaps the conqueror who was thought dead survived after all and will return more powerful than before after the power core incident.
