Interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has noticeably waned among fans after the climax of Avengers 4: Endgame. The reason is probably, among other things, the flood of new films in the cinema and series on Disney+.
The industry magazine Variety has now published a new, comprehensive report on the current problems surrounding Marvel and the MCU, in which an exciting detail is revealed. Apparently there is one Avengers reunion with the biggest stars thought about.
Marvel is reportedly considering a new Avengers film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson
As unnamed sources told Variety, Marvel is said to be in talks about one new Avengers movie for which the old team around Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow should return. Both characters died in Endgame, but the multiverse makes it not impossible for the characters to return.
The studio should embrace the idea not yet finally prescribed have. But the plan is not off the table either. Fees could be a problem, as stars like Downey Jr. can demand hefty sums.
The MCU’s commercial success demonstrably waned in 2023 with films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. An Avengers reunion with the biggest stars is therefore not an unrealistic idea.
