The film brought in 114 million dollars (about 1.2 billion kroner) in North America alone. Including global box office receipts, the new Marvel film has earned $282 million.
“Super Mario Bros. The Movie” slips to second place after four weekends at the top. “Evil Dead Rise” lands in third place.
However, the revenue that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” earned in its opening weekend is not remarkably high for a Marvel film.
Last year, for example, “Doctor Strange in the Mutliverse of Madness” brought in $187.4 million in its first three days in North America. In November, “Black Panther: Wakanda forever” grossed over $181.3 million.
“Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is a film adaptation of the Marvel Comics series of the same name.
