Since 2005, the Clément Foundation, housed on the Clément habitation site, has carried out patronage actions in favor of the arts and cultural heritage in Martinique. It seeks to enhance and preserve local heritage, promote contemporary art and Martinican artists. Finally, it manages important documentary funds on the History of the Caribbean.
The Clément foundation, headed by businessman Bernard Hayot, is located in François, in the east of the island of Martinique, on the heritage and contemporary site of the Clément habitation which serves as its case. Since 2005, he has been carrying out sponsorship activities in favor of contemporary art and Martinican heritage.
For this second broadcast from Martinique, Jean-François Cadet receives its director and heritage manager Florent Plasse. It is accompanied by art criticism Dominique Brebion and the historian Marie Hardy-Séguette. The latter is responsible for the collections of the Memorial of the 1902 Catastrophe, the “Pompeii of Martinique”, when in a few minutes the city of Saint-Pierre was buried under a fiery cloud which caused the death of 30,000 people.
In this special broadcast, VMDN will therefore discuss heritage and contemporary art, but also a part of Martinique’s history.
Baptiste Antoine has met Aurélien Layeresearch and development engineer for Clément rums, to discuss the specificities of the blue cane.
