Marseille: the replica of the Cosquer cave open to the public

Cultural report

Visit of the replica of the Cosquer cave, on June 1, 2022 in Marseille.

We knew the reproductions of the Lascaux cave or of Chauvet. In Marseille, there is now that of the Cosquer cave, the only submerged cave in which we find parietal art. Installed in the city center, next to the Mucem, the project had been brewing for 3 years and the reproduction of the cave discovered in 1985 by the diver Henri Cosquer has been open to the public since this Saturday, June 4. Visitors can admire, almost identically, the interior of a cave where men and women passed between 33,000 and 19,000 years before our era.
