Marmorstein: The Tidö parties “make room for” adjusting the climate goals

According to SVT’s political commentator Elisabeth Marmorstein, all eight party leaders took part in the debate, not least Center leader Muharrem Demirok and Social Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD), who jumped in instead of KD’s party leader Ebba Busch.

– It was a lively debate, says Elisabeth Marmorstein.

The reduction obligation hinders climate goals

Among other things, the reduction obligation was debated in the climate segment. Today’s news was that the government has agreed that the reduction obligation should be 6 percent, despite previous parliamentary decisions of 40 percent.

– That it will be difficult for the government to reach the national climate goals with the lowered reduction obligation is obvious, says Elisabeth Marmorstein.

According to Marmorstein, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) hinted that the government is “preparing” to adjust the climate goals for 2030.

The opposition disagrees

Marmorstein notes, however, that the opposition, on the other hand, does not seem to agree on the duty to reduce. The Social Democrats’ party leader Magdalena Andersson did not give any information during the debate about what S wants to do.

– I find it difficult to see that the Social Democrats will want to write up the reduction obligation to that level in their shadow budget this autumn, says Elisabeth Marmorstein.
