Markus Näslund is one of our greatest NHL players of all time. He hasn’t always attracted much attention or the headlines. But quietly, Näslund scored 869 points (395 goals and 474 assists) in 1117 games in the NHL.
Nice career
Näslund, who is from Örnsköldsvik, appeared in Modo together with, among others Peter Forsberg, Andreas Salomonsson and Hans Jonsson as part of the club’s incredible generation of 73s. Several Modo players participated and won the TV puck with team Ångermanland, where Näslund was named the tournament’s best forward.

In 1991, Näslund was drafted 16th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins. In his third season at the club, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks, where his career really took off. It was twelve seasons for Näslund in the Canucks, and seven of them as captain. The NHL career ended with one season in the New York Rangers.

But all those players are nobbed for some Swedish heroes.

Näslund continues:
